Being a Jersey native, there are so many things to love about the state, including unique Jersey food. Our researchers have written stories about the history of Jersey food for various reasons. They are uniquely New Jersey and often not found or recreated well in other parts of the country. So we got to thinking…. where can I get that Jersey food shipped to me today? And where can readers post and share places in their region to get something made exactly like it’s made in Jersey? Here are a few tips from our researcher. So far, we have answers for Taylor Ham, crumb cake, Italian hot dogs, pizza bread Kaiser rolls, and bagels – ALL JERSEY for the rest of the country!
Before you get out your credit card, we just wanted to share that some items that ship from services like Gold Belly add a pretty hefty service charge since they’re shipping food, and it has to be prepared to ship properly, and it does cost to provide such service. But others have factored shipping costs in and still provide a pretty good value if you’re jonesin’ for some Jersey originals. Just keep that in mind. Also, we know there are classics like the original “sloppy joe” or “classic Jersey pizza” or an original “Whitehouse submarine sandwich”, but let’s be real, retailers around the country have done a pretty good job replicating these Jersey originals almost everywhere.
Jersey Taylor Ham
Ok Ok Ok, we know the debate. North Jersey calls it Taylor Ham. South Jersey calls it pork roll. Whatever you call it, it’s often hard, if not impossible, to find it everywhere around the country. Since living in Jersey, whatever you call it, you can find it at just about every deli. But now you can also find the original Taylor Ham rolls at Costco. But don’t fret, you can get your original Taylor Ham via mail. Three pounds of the original classic Taylor Ham pork roll will run you $64.95 with FREE Shipping / $21.65 per pound from Gold Belly. With shipping, Jersey Pork Roll will run you $51.12 for the same three pounds or $17 per pound.

Jersey Crumb Cake
Our researchers wrote a story a few years ago about Jersey crumb cake that’s become one of our most visited stories. I think it’s the discussion on the crumb-to-cake ratio or whether you would put butter on the delicious breakfast gem.
But once you’ve had one of Jersey’s best, it’s almost impossible to find anywhere else. But we are so happy to tell you Mueller’s Bakery in Bay Head, New Jersey, will ship you a block of one of New Jersey’s most iconic crumb cakes. German recipe made to perfection, yes you can get crumb cake shipped. B & W Bakery in Hackensack, NJ, will also ship via Gold Belly (exciting as they don’t even accept charges in the store). Mueller’s runs $18.95 for a box of crumb cake (same as in-store), and shipping is $11.50 for $29.75, a great deal IMHO. B & W uses Gold Belly, which totals out at $40.95 but has FREE shipping. The two are Jersey’s BEST CRUMB CAKE.

Jersey Italian Hot Dogs
I laugh when I try to explain an Italian Hot Dog to a Jerseyan. After you try one, you’ll never forget it. And if you had the opportunity to get one from Jimmy Buff’s in West Orange or Kenilworth, New Jersey, well, you’ve had the original.
Jimmy Buff’s Italian hot dog was invented in Newark, New Jersey, back in 1932. The good news is that you can get “the original” shipped to your door via Gold Belly. Jimmy Buff’s 8 Pack Shipped with dirty oil, too! $114.95 for an 8-pack and FREE shipping. That equates to $14.38 per single. Not bad at all.
Jersey Pizza Bread
So you have all the stuff to build an Italian Hot Dog, but you don’t have the “pizza bread”, that one-foot-wide donut that, when cut in 1/2 or 1/4, becomes the ultimate pocket for an Italian hot dog or cheesesteak (yeah, it’s awesome for that too!
Well, gang, we found a place. Sorrento’s Bakery is in East Hanover, New Jersey. And they make a mean Jersey cheesecake, if there is such a thing. Just call or order online.

Jersey Bagels
Okay, so there is just something about a Jersey bagel. Certainly the water has something to do with it. So now the debate turns to whether you like a puffy or flatter bagel. Our researchers like the thicker Jersey bagel, and that’s what we’re going for.
You may have local favorite places to call to ship, but we’ve found one for you that ships one of Jersey’s best bagels. Our favorite is O’Bagel, which has stores in Hoboken, Bernardsville, and other locations. They leverage Gold Belly to make Jersey goodness come right to your door. A dozen is $54.95, and $74.95 for two dozen. Shipping is FREE. That’s $4.23 vs $1.50 in-store, which seems a little rich, but they’re WORTH IT!
