Project Local History Ambassador Flags for Students

UPDATE: May 2024

Connecting Bernards Township students to their local history, the Mr. Local History Project kicked off its 2nd year of our Project Local History Ambassador program for 5th-grade students thanks to the financial support of many notable people in the township. The program provides an official Annin & Company Bernards Township flag alongside an assembly discussing the history of Bernards Township, the Annin Flag Company, and the history of the design of the official flag of Bernards Township.

Project Local Ambassador started in 2023 and continues for five years so that every 5th grade student in Bernards Township receives an official Bernards Township flag along with the history of this iconic local history keepsake.

Project Local History Ambassador would have never started if it wasn’t for our community’s generosity.

Meg Wastie – Education Program Coordinator

To preserve and promote Bernards Township’s pride and history, the MLH Project started giving a custom made Bernards Township flags to every 5th grade student at Cedar Hill, Liberty Corner, Mt. Prospect, Oak Street and St. James schools over 5 years until every student has a Bernards Township flag.

Please help our efforts to pay it forward for the next four years with a donation to the Mr. Local History Project – Click Here

There is a deep connection to history as the world’s largest flagmakers family originated in Liberty Corner, New Jersey. Known originally as Annin’s Corner, the Liberty Corner section of Bernards Township was the first home to the Annin Family who made this very special flag to all those students moving on to William Annin middle school.

Help Pay it Forward

While we got thru year one of five, you can still make a difference by paying it forward so the Mr. Local History Project can continue this program for 5 years so EVERY STUDENT in Bernards Township can get a flag for themselves.
