Does the hot dog (not the Italian one) get a place in New Jersey’s Historic Foodie Wooden Collectible series?
What about Rutt’s Hut, or any other of a handful of iconic hot dog eateries?
The Mr. Local History Project researchers LOVE stories about Jersey food. It’s not automatic. They have to be voted in to get into the wooden village with a painted wooden collectible. Four iconic Jersey eateries have made the grade. What about a hot dog joint?
Four limited-edition wooden keepsakes honor New Jersey’s historic icons, highlighting the state’s most famous eateries, which have served the state for almost 100 years. Congratulations to our New Jersey Diner keepsake, West Orange’s Jimmy Buff’s Italian Hot Dogs, Newark’s Krug’s Tavern, and the White Manna of Hackensack.

Support New Jersey’s iconic food institutions with a collection of your own. Each piece is handmade in the USA. The Mr. Local History Project sinks all proceeds into growing the program to offer more keepsakes, as we’ve now grown the village to over 25 keepsakes by the end of 2022.
The Mr. Local History Project (MLH) non-profit volunteer organization has been preserving and promoting local history in the Somerset Hills since the organization was established in 2019. The all-volunteer group started a wooden miniature keepsake program to share history, and artwork, that now has become part of New Jersey’s local history and helps Somerset Hills historic icons grow as part of the statewide New Jersey Historic Village Collection on Facebook.
