The Winter on Mindowaskin Pond keepsake will be crafted by Cat’s Meow Village, a small company in Ohio that has for decades produced wooden painted collectibles of iconic scenes from America and around the world. You might know them when you travel to gift shops and see local keepsakes with the little black cat, Casper. If you know Westfield, it would have been the perfect item for Jeanettes and Pickwick Village.

Mindowaskin Park is a tranquil 12.6-acre public treasure featuring a large pond, trees and gardens, walkways, and a playground. The original bandstand was constructed in 1922 and replicated for the 1994 re-dedication of the park. The Friends of Mindowaskin Park, Inc. has supported it since 1993 and is a popular spot for quiet walks, wedding photographs, and overall public enjoyment. If winter cooperates, the park turns into a winter wonderland.

Brooks Betz, a Mr. Local History Project member, presented the idea to the board, and they loved it. It seems that a few others also remembered the scene of being on Mindowaskin Pond in their early years. Anyone who has experienced it will remember it for sure. So, the board approved this limited edition collectible for the New Jersey Historic Village Collection. There will only be one production run at this point, so make sure you get yours while you can.
