Why Celebrate Charter Day?
Honor the Official Charter of Bernardston

A Charter is a document, typically signed by the King of England, granting rights to a particular land area to a prospective Governor (or overseer).

Local resident Brooks Betz spent two years researching to rebuild the lost 1760 charter of Bernardston which is said to have burnt in a fire in 1850. Read the story.
